Drift Reality > London, England > The Framing of Violent Video Games on the 'Net: A Political Economy Perspective

This is the abstract from my research methods paper.

In recent years, search engines have come under increased scrutiny due largely to the perception that they are becoming increasingly dominated by commercial interests, but work in this area is not supported by a substantive body of research. This study used a content analysis method to analyze the framing of an issue with substantial commercial ramifications: the effects of violent videogames. The study provides evidence that search engines present a diversity of opinions and interests, a finding that
challenges popular academic belief on the issue. The study is useful in understanding the political economy implications of commercial search engines.
