When
I was a student at Georgetown, I took a class called New York
Stories in which the Professor talked about New York like it was
some Goddamn Shangri-La.
I
think this marked the beginning of my irritation with the superiority
complex that people from New York City tend to have. And as with
most things, irritation has fueled much of the work I've done
in regards to "The City."
Do
I have a problem with New York City?
Well,
apart from the traffic, the people, the attitude, the accent,
the scenery, and the smell, I think it is a great city.
Just
kidding, I really do hold the city in high esteem, I just find
it irritating when people put it on a pedestal.
True,
New York is people who I revere: Aaron Copland, Henry James, Norman
Rockwell, Oliver Stone, and Stanley Kubrick.
New
York is also people I find irritating: Sean Combs, Jennifer Lopez,
Rosie O'Donnell, and Miss Jones.
(I threw that last one in because she is what prompted me to create
this section of the site in the first place).
