Pyongyang, North Korea - Home

My Father was born in Pyongyang, the capital city of North Korea, in 1939. He was just a young teenager when the Korean War ravaged Korea; and his family was part of an exodus from North Korea to South Korea.

He spent several years of his life in Seoul, South Korea, before first making his way to live with relatives in Hawaii, and ultimately moving to the United States.

Throughout my childhood, my Father did not really discuss his childhood nor teach my sister and I about Korean culture. It was largely out of a desire to know more about this part of my cultural heritage that lead me to spend a year living in Seoul.

This section of the site is devoted to recollections my Father has had, about his time growing up in North Korea.
